'Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, starring Henry Golding of Crazy Rich Asians fame, is Paramount's latest effort to capitalize on the few relevant franchises they still own, and not a very successful one because it flopped badly at the box office and was a pretty bad movie reviews wise as well. Their plan was to crossover GI Joe with Transformers, but now remains to be seen what happens. With Snake Eyes, one of the biggest core issues is that it fully caters to little kids, who don't really go to the movies anymore. And so in today's Anatomy of a Failure, let' s see how exactly this film came to be mostly enjoyed exclusively by little kids and why that's not a great exclusivity for a blockbuster movie to have anymore. Maybe see Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings instead.' |
