この画家のパレットは一本の象牙から彫られている。
6つのくぼみには、青、緑、茶(？)、黄、赤、黒の固形顔料が詰められており、一番上のカルトゥーシュ(※)にはアメンホテプ三世の名、即位名「ネブマアトラー」、そして添え名「太陽神レーの愛せし者」と丸く囲まれている。
※ 古代エジプトで使われていたヒエログリフの文字（記号）の1つで、ファラオの名前を囲む曲線。

赤は甲虫の殻を潰したもの、青は貴石を潰したものだと思う。
黄、茶、黒は、異なる酸化物を含んだ土に、より濃い色になるまで火を通したものじゃないかと。
